SENIOR ADULTS

Texas Mental Health Resources provides financial support for senior adults, who are at a heightened risk of mental illness.

  • It is estimated that 20% of people age 55 and above experience some type of mental health concern.
  • The most common mental health challenges of senior adults include anxiety, depression, and severe cognitive impairment.
  • Mental health issues are often implicated as a factor in cases of suicide.
  • Older men have the highest suicide rate of any age group, with men aged 85 years or older having a rate nearly 5 times that of the national average.

Texas Mental Health Resources - Serving our Seniors

Understanding the need for senior adults to actively interface with others to avoid isolation and depression, Texas Mental Health Resources threw an End of Summer Bash at a 55+ community in Grand Prairie, TX.

TXMHR president Donovan Fredricksen & wife Kelli jumped into the fun as these older adults and their families ate Caribbean foods, participated in door prize drawings, took "green screen" photos, and enjoyed line dancing to a Caribbean vibe. What a wonderful group of friends!

The End of Summer Bash Included some Green Screen Fun!
